HOW IT WORKS

The CloudDat server runs on a compute instance installed near to your Wasabi bucket.  Wasabi partners Vultr and Hivelocity offer co-located facilities with zero-fee egress to Wasabi.  CloudDat clients accelerate the data transfer to and from the server, allowing for high performance over the WAN, then the CloudDat server streams the data to your Wasabi using standard S3 APIs.  CloudDat is built on ExpeDat, DEI’s high-performance file transfer software which uses our proprietary transport protocol to move data across public and private IP networks, overcoming distance, latency, and congestion.

Data moving between your desktop or server and your Wasabi bucket never stops in the compute instance.  It streams through in real-time without touching local storage.  You can also use CloudDat to move data between Wasabi regions, and filesystem access to the compute instance is available if you want it.

The software and data are hosted in your accounts, so you are always in control.  There are no bandwidth or data transfer fees beyond what Wasabi and the compute provider normally charge for instances and storage.
