HOW IT WORKS

CloudDat server software is hosted on an Akamai/Linode compute instance with access to a filesystem or object bucket in the same region.  CloudDat clients accelerate the data transfer to and from the server, allowing for high performance over the WAN.  CloudDat is built on ExpeDat, our high-performance file transfer software which uses our proprietary transport protocol to move data across public and private IP networks, overcoming distance, latency, and congestion.

Data moves from your local storage, through the CloudDat server instance, and directly into Akamai file or object storage.  Initial setup gives you access to a single object bucket.  You can then expand to access any filesystem or bucket within the same region.  Data can be moved between Akamai regions, or other cloud providers, by deploying clients or additional servers in those regions.

The software and data are hosted in your accounts, so you are always in control.  There are no bandwidth or data transfer fees beyond what Akamai and your other infrastructure providers may charge.
