StorageDNA Integrates ExpeDat

by Data Expedition, Inc. |  Announcements Mar 28, 2019

LAS VEGAS (NAB Show) – March 28, 2019 – Data Expedition, Inc.® (DEI®), creator of the industry’s only intelligent data transport software, and StorageDNA, the data services and decisions company, announced the integration of DEI’s ExpeDat™ into DNAfabric for accelerated data transfers in media and entertainment workflows. StorageDNA is exhibiting and offering demonstrations of the integration at the upcoming NAB Show, April 8-11 in Booth #SL11810. DEI executives will also be onsite at the show.

"We made the decision to partner with DEI after an exhaustive technical due diligence process,” said Tridib Chakravarty, President and CEO of StorageDNA. “ExpeDat maximized every long-distance link we threw at it. From testing site to site, on-premise to cloud, and inter-cloud and intra-cloud workflows, ExpeDat was able to fully saturate all network paths."

DNAfabric is a subscription-based, data services platform that provides media and entertainment users the ability to better manage data across disk, tape, WAN and cloud. The DNAfabric Mobility service, a data movement toolset configurable across a number of workflows and storage tiers, features a plugin-based architecture to enable multiple data transport options. StorageDNA has integrated DEI’s ExpeDat as the first UDP acceleration plugin for accelerating data transfers across wide-area mobility workflows, and to and from remote sites and the cloud. DNAfabric works with numerous S3-compliant public and private cloud storage providers, including AWS and Azure.

Examples of how DNAfabric utilizes ExpeDat for remote transfers are large-scale storage mirroring across sites, synchronizing data from on-premise to cloud storage, and creating a hybrid data pipeline for cloud editing, transcoding and AI.

“There’s a new set of customers that will now benefit from ExpeDat with StorageDNA’s integration,” said Seth Noble, CEO and Founder of DEI. “In addition to making data transport as effortless as possible for users, we pride ourselves on developing software that’s very easy to integrate and deploy. StorageDNA’s integration brings ExpeDat to even more customers in media and entertainment, where transporting massive files is the norm.”

ExpeDat is based on DEI’s proprietary Multipurpose Transaction Protocol® (MTP™/IP), which intelligently and automatically adapts to network variability without human guidance. As a result, ExpeDat maximizes available bandwidth, while minimizing time and effort required for data transport. Extremely lightweight software, ExpeDat is easy to deploy, use, and integrate into existing and new workflows.

There are multiple ways to partner with DEI, from using off-the-shelf ExpeDat software for simple file transfers to integrating lightweight, easy-to-use SDKs for native accelerated data transfer capabilities. The software is designed and engineered to afford DEI’s partners an easy way to add accelerated data transfer without an arduous development cycle spanning many months. Partnering with DEI is simple from both development and pricing perspectives.
