Performance

If HyperGate’s performance when transferring large files is significantly worse than without HyperGate, there may be a problem with your network configuration.  If you are using a software firewall, disable it and try again.  See the Setup chapter for important information about networks and firewalls.

Check with your network administrator to make sure that hardware firewalls, switches, and other devices are not interfering with HyperGate's UDP traffic on ports 8083 and 8088.  Changing the port numbers used by HGserver and HGclient may help avoid interference from such devices.  If performance problems persist, contact DEI or your regional support representative for further assistance.

Delays with Small Files

HyperGate is designed to improve the performance of large data transfers across fast or congested Wide Area Networks.  Because it introduces extra steps into between the client workstation and the web server, it is not recommended for downloading large numbers of small files. If you need to be able download lots of small files very quickly, consider DEI's ExpeDat software.
