Proxy Mode

Instead of linking documents to HyperGate individually, you can make your entire website available via HyperGate.  This is especially useful if the web clients will be primarily accessing HyperGate enabled sites.  It is also useful if the client workstations require use of a proxy server.

The advantage of using Proxy Mode is that entire websites can be browsed using HyperGate without changing any links.  The disadvantage is that each web browser on each workstation must be configured to use HGclient as a proxy server and HGclient itself should be configured with the addresses of HyperGate enabled servers.

When installing HGclient, use a ”HGServer” configuration variable to in the hgclient.cf file for each HyperGate enabled server that you are aware of.  For example,

HGServer foo.bar.com:8083
HGServer www.mycorp.org
HGServer hg.myportal.net

All browser requests for the listed servers will use HyperGate.  All other requests, will be carried out using standard HTTP.

You can also designate HyperGate servers on the HGclient command line by using the “-D” option, however this method is not supported when HGclient is installed as a Startup menu item.
